The first dinner in a new kitchen is never the best one. Half the boxes are still taped shut, the pot is too small, and nobody can find the salt. It's still the one you'll tell your kids about.

The First Kitchen is for that night — and for all the ordinary Tuesdays that follow it.

We filled it with the pieces that earn their place by the stove: an olive wood spatula, slotted spoon and corner spoon that only get better with every pot you stir, a little olive wood dish for the salt, and a corkscrew and bottle opener for the first bottle you open in the new place. (Between those two and the brass skeleton key, there's no bottle in the house you can't open.)

Then we added the part that matters most: recipe cards designed by bestselling artist Korie Herold, for the dishes that already belong to your families. Mama's gumbo. Grandma's pound cake. The Monday red beans nobody has ever measured. Write them down while you can still call and ask.

It all arrives inside The EVR Box, our linen keepsake box, with lace cut from thousand-year paper and your initials and year set at the heart of the lid. The spoons are for using. The box is for keeping. When the spoons find their drawer, the recipe cards move into the box — along with the cork from that first bottle, and whatever else your kitchen decides is worth saving.

Inside The First Kitchen:

  • The EVR Box — linen, with lace scrollwork cut from hanji and your initials and year set by hand at the heart of the lid. Inside: a cedar inlay, three velvet keepsake pouches, and a brass skeleton key bottle opener.
  • Three olive wood utensils — a spatula, a slotted spoon and a corner spoon. Dense, smooth, and each one grained a little differently.
  • An olive wood salt dish — for salt by the stove, or a place to rest the spoon mid-stir.
  • Fifty 4×6 recipe cards by Korie Herold — heirloom-quality cards in their own leaf-print box, for the family recipes worth writing down by hand.
  • A corkscrew and bottle opener — pearl-white handles with gold-tone ends, in their own wooden box, for the first bottle in the new place.

It arrives ready to give. Every First Kitchen comes packed in our signature For Keeps gift box and velvet bag, with a blank note card. Use it for a gift message — or let it carry the first recipe.

Not just for the wedding day. For the twenty years after.

GIFTING

This box was made to be given.

If you're sending it as a gift, we make it easy:

Add a gift message at checkout. Write whatever you want her to read first — a few words, a long letter, an inside joke only the two of you know.

It arrives ready to give. Everything we send goes out in our For Keeps gift box or velvet gift bag, with your message tucked inside on a handwritten card. Nothing extra to add. No upcharge. No checkbox to find.

Ship it directly to her, or have it sent to you to give in person. Both work beautifully.

The For Keeps Difference

For Keeps pieces are created to mark a moment — and stay with you long after it passes.

The EVR Box isn’t meant to be filled once and forgotten. It’s meant to be opened again — on anniversaries, in quiet moments, and in the years that follow — carrying memory forward, for keeps.
